What to expect from the build
Mechanical wooden puzzles are assembled from laser-cut plywood sheets. Parts are pressed out by hand and slotted together, so there is normally no glue and no paint involved. The work is in alignment rather than adhesive: gears have to mesh, axles have to turn freely, and a joint forced in at an angle will bind the mechanism later. Most builders sand the small tabs lightly and rub candle wax on moving surfaces, both of which the instructions usually mention.
Who it suits
Best for a first mechanical build — fewer parts than the clocks, and a result that moves. If this is a first mechanical kit, expect the assembly to take longer than the piece count suggests — the fitting and testing take more time than the pressing out.
