When to start a Christmas kit
Work backwards from the evening you want it lit. Most of these kits publish a build time of three to eight hours, which in practice means two or three sittings – first builds usually run longer than the box suggests. Starting in November leaves room for drying time between glue stages and for the inevitable search for a part that rolled under the table.

Building a miniature Christmas village
Several small kits arranged together make a village that grows a little every year. Three things keep a mixed group looking like one place rather than a shelf of unrelated models:
