Greenhouses and flower houses are glass-and-frame builds. The pleasure is in the transparency, which also means every joint is visible — they reward patience with glue more than any other theme.
Courtyards are open scenes framed by walls and screens: stone, bamboo, water, a path. Calmer, more architectural, and generally the most forgiving to assemble.
Treehouses and forest scenes are the most three-dimensional. Foliage is built up in layers, so they take longer than the piece count suggests and look best from a standing position.

Making the greenery look right
The single thing that separates a convincing garden build from a flat one is variation. Kit foliage arrives uniform; bending leaves at slightly different angles, and letting some sit lower than others, does more for realism than any amount of extra detail. Work from the back of the scene forward, and resist filling every gap — real planting has holes in it.
Lighting matters less here than in a library, but a single warm bulb low in the scene, angled up through the leaves, produces the late-afternoon effect these kits are designed around.

Building tips for garden kits
Glue sparingly on clear parts. Adhesive on a greenhouse pane is permanent and obvious. Apply to the frame, never the glazing.
Sort foliage by size before you start. Small plant parts are the pieces most often lost, and the hardest to identify from the manual mid-build.
Build the structure, then plant it. Fitting greenery as you go blocks access to joints you still need to reach.
Expect these to gather dust. Open foliage traps more of it than a closed nook; a display case is worth considering.

Garden miniature kit FAQ
Are garden kits harder than book nooks?
Not harder, but usually slower. The part count is similar; the difference is how many of those parts are individual leaves and flowers that have to be placed by hand.
Do they include lights?
Some do and some do not. Where lighting is included it is normally a single warm strip. The kit’s Amazon listing is the place to confirm before ordering.
Are these fairy gardens?
They are closer to scale models than to the outdoor fairy-garden hobby: interior pieces built from laser-cut wood, meant for a shelf or desk rather than a plant pot.
Which is best as a gift?
A greenhouse or a flower house. They photograph well, they are bright enough to display anywhere, and they are more forgiving to assemble than a layered forest scene.
