How to choose a wooden marble run kit
A marble run is only as good as its lift, so start with how the marbles get back to the top: a hand crank, a wind-up spring, or a battery or solar motor that keeps them moving on their own. Motorised runs are the better display piece; crank runs are the more mechanical, hands-on toy. Check the number of steel marbles included and the finished height against your shelf. These are the most precise wooden kits to build, because a track that is a millimetre out will stop a marble, so test each level as you go rather than at the end, and sand any tight slot instead of forcing it. Bigger piece counts usually mean more tracks, lifts and tricks, and a longer build.
