Luantuo Flickering Flame Effect Mini LED Lights (6-Pack) solves the one thing a normal warm-white LED cannot do: it moves. A steady bulb behind a hearth reads as a lamp; a flickering one reads as fire.

Why it is listed here

A surprising number of kits stage a fire – a common-room hearth, a bookshop mantel, a forge, a lantern. Lit with a constant LED they all look like a light bulb hidden behind card. The flicker is what the eye actually recognises as flame, and it costs no more than a plain bulb.

Using it on a kit

Place it low and behind the fire opening, pointing up into the chimney breast rather than out at the viewer. One is almost always enough; two flickering out of sync in the same small scene reads as a fault rather than a fire.
